Presidente de la República Tolimense nacido en Piedras en junio 5 de 1867. Miguel Abadía Méndez estudio derecho en la Universidad del Rosario, fue el último presidente de la Hegemonía Conservadora (1886-1930), y perteneció a la llamada generación de políticos gramáticos, que administraron el país basados en el poder de la retórica y el dominio del lenguaje. Electo presidente para el periodo comprendido entre 1926 y 1930, en el cual se firmaron los tratados limítrofes con Brasil, Perú y con Nicaragua por la soberanía sobre las islas de San Andrés. También tuvo que enfrentar la masacre de las bananeras en 1928 y la crisis económica de 1929. Muere en La Unión, Cundinamarca en mayo de 1947.
